Frugal Living Tip of the Day for May 25, 2008

Today’s frugal tip:  Make your own dryer sheets!

If there is one thing that has always had my frugal bone aching, it is those disposable fabric softener sheets so many people use in the dryer.  Here’s another way to replace them for good, using what you already have on hand right now!

Using an old hand towel or wash cloth, soak it completely with liquid fabric softener.  Wring it out well and hang it outside or over a towel rack until it has dried out completely.  Now, the next time you have a load of clothes to put into the dryer, toss in your homemade fabric softener towel along with it.  This method not only eliminates waste but the towel is good for up to 30, even 40 loads per soak so you will save a ton of money, too.
