Heavenly Help for your Food Budget
What if I told you that you could get enough food to feed two people for nearly a month without spending more than $30? You’d probably tell me I was crazy and while you’d be right, so is what I just said.
It really is possible to get plenty of meat, veggies and a wide variety of other foods for about a dollar a day, thanks to a program that has been in place for several years known as Angel Food Ministries.
Now before you get the impression that I am talking about any form of government assistance, allow me to assure you that Angel Food is not welfare. Started by a family who just wanted to help people who couldn’t easily afford to eat well, Angel Food has since spread nationwide and programs are run (most often by church groups) all across the country every month.
There is no qualifying whatsoever, and no limit to how many packages you can purchase. The content of the packages varies each month, but a list of items for the upcoming month is always available. In addition, there are specialty packages available ranging from steak to chicken and even more variety during the holidays.
To give you an idea of what the standard boxes contain, here’s the content of the package for June 2008:
1.5 lb. Rib Eye Steaks (4 x 6 oz)
1.5 lb. Hamburger Patties (4 x 6 oz)
2 lb. Pork Riblets
4 lb. Individually Quick Frozen Chicken Leg Quarters
2 lb. Breaded Chicken Tenders
20 oz. Supreme Pizza
1 lb. Mild Italian Sausage
2 lb. French Fries
16 oz. Sliced Carrots
16 oz. Mixed Vegetables
32 oz. Borden 2% Reduced Fat Shelf Stable Milk
6 oz. Pancake Mix
15 oz. Pork and Beans
14 oz. Ketchup
7.5 oz. Macaroni & Cheese
Dozen Eggs
Dessert Item
Think you can get all that for $30? Me either.

Glad to see your post about AFM. My friend and I have been using it for over 2 years. It’s amazing and once upon a time it was only $25. With the cost of food rising, they did raise the prices, but it is SO worth it.
You can purchase as many packs of these things as you want too. That’s the beauty. Our family of seven typically buys 4 of them and then adds the add-on packs of one or two items.
It is totally worth it, and there are no income guidelines. We would NEVER qualify for food stamps or otherwise, but we qualify for this, because everyone does.
Thanks for posting this for others!
(hope you don’t mind - I might do the same thing in a week or two).
Angel Food Ministries has amazed me since a former coworker told me about it and I have been a fan ever since. Why would I mind if anyone else wanted to share with their readers about such a great thing!
You always have an open invite to share ANYTHING on my site!
What an excellent service - thank you for sharing this!

I was surprised when I began using this many years ago. The food was fresh and the produce was very ripe. Unfortunately, there is no program close to us any longer. I do miss it though, it was a great bargain.
