Getting Trashy!

Published by michaelnolan at 11:31 am under tip of the day Edit This

If you are anything at all like I am, people consider you to be a pack rat.

I have have to accept and even to embrace the term because to be completely honest, it is a pretty accurate assessment.  If you are set on changing your ways though, I’ve assembled a few basic tips to make clearing out the clutter a little easier on you.

1.  If you haven’t worn a clothing item in a year or more, it is time to let it go.  That poodle skirt isn’t ever going to come back in style, nor are those leggings from the eighties…and even if they do you are too old to even think about wearing them.  Donate your used clothing to a thrift store or other charitable organization and be sure to get a tax receipt.

2.  Go through your medicine cabinet and check the expiration dates on every medication - prescription or over-the-counter.  If it is past the expiration date, it should be out of the house, period.

3.  Donate your old magazines to a charity thrift shop.  If you are keeping them around for a particular recipe or story, clip them out and store in a binder for easy access later.

4.  Cut the clutter around your space and make some cash at the same time by having a yard sale.  I’ll be writing on tips for a successful yard sale in the near future, so if that is an option for you, be sure to check back soon.
