Here’s my 3 cents

In taking a look at my own experience with the savings examples I wrote about yesterday I noticed a pattern.  In all but one of them (and another that I will tell you about in a minute) I am earning $.03.

For each of the two paid email sites I average three cents per email.  On my HSBC account right now I have averaged earning interest at a rate of about $.03 per day.  Today I just looked at another web site I am a part of to see what my earnings were doing there and guess what?  I’m averaging three cents per day.

Let’s do some math:

  • The two paid email programs I am a part of send me an average of 2-3 emails per day. That’s a total of $.12 for the two per day.
  • The interest on my savings account is growing but currently averages $.03 per day.  So far that is $.15 per day that I haven’t had to do much to earn that I wouldn’t be doing otherwise.
  • My account at Prosper - a site that allows regular people like you and me to loan and borrow money - earns $.03 per day.  We are up to $.18 per day.

The math for these tiny amounts alone comes out to an earning potential of at least $65.70 per year and that is without increasing any daily earnings for higher balances in those accounts.  Dreadfully simple way to earn extra cash, especially when you treat it as rainy day money and never touch it except to add to it!
