Local School System Goes Frugal and Gives Back

Published by michaelnolan at 6:00 am under tip of the day Edit This

I’ve talked in the past about such organizations as Magic City Harvest, a group that collects unused food that will be otherwise thrown away in order to disperse it to people who need food.  They work with many local supermarkets and restaurants in the Birmingham metro area as well as Jefferson County, Alabama.

In today’s news there is a story about the Hoover City School System and how they are now going to package uneaten lunch room meals to be distributed in a similar fashion to those in need.  I can’t tell you how happy these sort of stories make me, especially given the number of horror stories in the news these days.

It is nice to know that some people really are good at their core.

That sounds like a great thing to do. Thanks for the information.

That’s great. I wish more schools would think to do something like this: every little action helps, and especially from schools where the kids can actually learn to do more good later in life.
