Winter weather car tips

Today’s frugal tips are in honor of the freezing temperatures that killed my tomato plants a few days ago.  Because the extreme cold can be a pain for more than just us but also for cars here are a few winter weather card tips that should help make the cold season a little easier to bear:

  1. Allow your car the opportunity to warm up adequately after sitting dormant overnight or for prolonged periods in freezing temperatures.  Revving a cold engine can greatly increase the wear and tear on it.
  2. Placing flat refrigerator magnets over the door locks on your car doors will stop them from freezing up when the weather is cold and damp.
  3. Keep a few fake credit cards - you know the ones that you receive in junk mailers - in your glove compartment as a quick way to remove light frost from your windshield.
