Frugal Christmas Decorating
Michael’s Notes: I came across these ideas in a book of helpful hints that I’ve had on the shelf for years and I couldn’t believe how common sense it seemed. This was definitely one of those “why didn’t I think of that” moments and since I’ll be putting up my tree after Thanksgiving, I’m going to give them a try.
Lighting The Way - Two great frugal ideas for Christmas Decorating!
1. Throughout the year, save those little plastic bread tags that come on loaves of bread, rolls and other bakery-type products. Then when Christmas decorating time rolls around, collect your bread tags and spray or hand paint them deep green. When putting your Christmas lights on the tree, use these little tags as a frugal way to keep the lights exactly where you want them - they’re the perfect size to affix the light wires to the Christmas tree branches!
I’m going to try spraying mine hunter green and then possibly even attaching a small cluster of ribbons to each one to add some extra pizazz to my frugal tree this year!
2. Want some creative new bulbs for your tree? Save your old light bulbs! Just a bit of spray paint and perhaps some glitter and ribbon and you’ve got a great looking bulb made from something that would have otherwise gone to the garbage!
I plan to spray mine with metallic colors and wrap the screw-in part of the bulb with ribbon - after I’ve made a small loop with floral wire to make hanging these beauties a breeze!

These are great tips I would never have thought of. Thank you.
