December Holiday CVS Gift Card Contest
It is the first day of December, so I thought I’d start the holiday month off with a bang with a bit of a contest.
It is really quite simple to enter, all you have to do is to respond to this post with a unique money saving idea. Tell the Frugal Living Today readers one thing that you do to save money and you can be rewarded!
Your idea could be simple or complex; it might save you pennies or hundreds, even thousands of dollars.
The prize for this contest is a $10 CVS gift card sent directly to you from yours truly. The prize will be awarded based on creativity and uniqueness of the idea you post, so don’t just write down the first thing that comes to mind.
Contest ends on December 7, 2008 at 12:00 midnight Central Standard Time

This one is off the top of my head, because it is a good one.
Camping as a vacation get away.
This thanksgiving weekend, my oldest came home from college, my youngest 14, husband and friends all met at a Bluegrass music festival 30 min from our home. For $40 each, we got admission tickets and camping for Wed-Sunday.
Of coarse we had to bring and cook our own food. (They had concesssion stands, but with all the left over turkey). We had turkey sandwiches and had fun making turkey soup over the fire.
Our biggest costs were the beer and whiskey. We all brought leftovers after spending Thursday with our respective families. We went to music when we wanted, hung out together when we wanted, read books, enjoyed the view and eachother.
My oldest left back to Tallahassee yest afternoon. I miss him already, but know we had a great, low budget time.
I spent about $300 total on a weekend away for 4, complete with entertainment, family and friend time. All leftovers are eaten up too. No waste.
Pack your lunch for work. This helped me save a great deal of money like at least $4 a day. This idea also helps save on gas. You’re not running around to fast food restaurants.
Hi Mike,
I save about 200$ a month with vendor coupons. I troll the isles every time I shop for the coupon on the products that you peel off.
Then I hoard them and wait till the product goes on sale. Here in Florida we have Publix that does the most buy one get one free… But Winn-Dixie does it to and they seem to always have more vendor coupons on many more products.
The best so far the had every one behind me cheering me when they see my total bill was $218.00 for the groceries then the final total $99.00 after all the coupons… a savings of $118.00.
So my time is to peel off the coupon you see on products while you shop. I make it a goal to try and find $10.00 worth of coupons every time I shop.

Give a co-op store a try. I find that high price meats and vegetables are cheaper at the co-op. Also do your best to stay away from the processed foods. Not only do they cost more but who needs the extra wrapping on our landfills.
I use cloth napkins for serving meals. After the meal I use them to clean up in the kitchen this saves on paper towels. I buy 6 rolls of paper towels per year for our family of seven and they last! I also never buy anything at full price.
I clip coupons to save money.I buy mostly generic products. I buy things like toilet paper and paper towels in bulk. I buy everything with cash or debit card. I have a used car so we don’t have a car payment. My husband takes the train to work to save money. I spend about $80.00 a week including diapers to feed a family of three. For Thanksgiving, I got a free ham from my local grocery store. I always try to be thrifty. I try and buy things out of the box or floor models. This is how we got $200.00 off of our television. As a young stay at home mom, I live for coupons and sales.
I don’t if mine fits, after reading the others, but I make my own Christmas decorations! Wreaths and Garland both can be made at home by taking a walk through your neighborhood and “Trimming” your, or your neighbors trees! My block has several types of evergreens, as well as Olive trees, They make a beautiful… and meaningful wreath! Plus they make your display local, which I also love! My neighbors have rosemary bushes that they never use so I can take from them any time I want, what a smell!!!
Cloved fruit for the tree, along with fresh gingerbread men ( and women ), make for a more Victorian tree but I love that stuff! And again the smell is insane! Even if you have a fake tree, you can add fresh clippings and get the smell of fresh, without the price! Or to many needles! I love stringing fresh cranberries, and popcorn… the colors are great and what else are you going to do while your watching Top Chef!
This way you can have Tradition, and be frugal, as well as have a unique and beautiful Holiday display!
